De la Toison au Tricot n° 203 : Les « Chaussettes » de Noël

Although this post is a bit out of season, I wanted to share it with you.

I really do love band weaving. But I have one big “problem” with weaving all these bands.

The utilitarian, practical side of me needs to be able to actually use these woven bands for something: I can’t bear the thought of keeping all these bands stored away in a box in the back of my closet.

So, I’m always trying to think of ways that I can use these bands in various projects.

Bien que ce billet soit un peu « hors saison », j’avais envie de le partager avec vous.

J’aime vraiment le tissage de galons « norvégiens ». Pourtant, j’ai un gros « problème » avec le tissage de tous ces galons.

Mon côté utilitaire et pratique a besoin de faire quelque chose avec ces jolis galons : j’ai du mal à supporter l’idée de garder tous ces galons rangés dans une boîte au fond de l’armoire.

Bref, j’essaie toujours de trouver des moyens d’utiliser ces galons dans mes divers projets.

Norwegian "Heart" Band -- Galon norvégien avec un motif « cœur »

Do you remember the sweet little Norwegian “heart” band that I made?

I thought that it would look splendid as trim for a Christmas stocking.

Of course, Christmas stockings aren’t a Norwegian tradition. So, this project is a bit of a fusion of Norwegian and Anglo-Saxon Yule traditions.

For this project, I wet felted 3 Christmas stockings with wool from my flock.

Before I started felting, I dyed some white wool to match the Gammelserie Traditional Red that I used in weaving this band. This turned out quite well.

Vous souvenez-vous de l’adorable petit galon norvégien avec un motif « cœur » que j’ai fait ?

J’ai pensé qu’il serait splendide comme garniture pour une « chaussette » de Noël.

Bien sûr, les « chaussettes » de Noël ne sont pas une tradition norvégienne. Ce projet est donc une petite fusion des traditions norvégiennes et anglo-saxonnes.

Pour ce projet, j’ai feutré 3 « chaussettes »de Noël avec de la laine de mon troupeau.

Avant de commencer le feutrage, j’ai teint de la laine blanche pour qu’elle corresponde au rouge traditionnel de la laine Gammelserie que j’ai utilisé pour tisser ce galon. Cela s’est plutôt bien passé.
